How does CompactFlash Card work?

Each CF card comprises a controller for data storage and retrieval. The controller is in charge of functions such as wear levelling and error correction. When data is written to the card, the controller assigns it to the proper memory cells. During a read operation, the controller receives data from the cells and transfers it to the host device. CF cards require a power supply to function. When plugged into a device, the device supplies the electricity required for the card to work.
